The Old Bailey Choir was formed in 2017 by staff and volunteers of the Witness Service at the Central Criminal Court primarily to bring together those who work at that Court. Since then the choir has expanded to include members who work in and round the City of London. Membership is open to all singers and there is no formal audition and no requirement of previous choral experience. We aim for, and achieve, high standards; strong singers are always valued, and those with less experience will gain from the training the choir receives from our Director of Music, Andrew Storey. The choir aims to perform two concerts each year, as well as singing at the annual carol service in the Old Bailey (The Central Criminal Court). The choir is run by a team of committed volunteers. We are a very friendly and social choir and are not averse to meeting for a drink after rehearsals or joining in other social gatherings!
Our next concert At the Waters Edge contains music and readings with a watery theme. It features Songs of the Fleet (C V Stanford) and On the Beach (from Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony). and is in the Grand Hall at the Old Bailey on Wednesday 8th October 2025 at 6:30pm.
Tickets are £20 each. All proceeds go to the Sheriff's and Recorder's Fund.
We have a fantastic season of music making coming up for the 2025-2026 season. We are kicking things on with our concert on the 8th October featuring music by Vaughan Williams, Copeland and Stanford.
We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 5:30pm until 7:30pm in the Judges' dining room at the Old Bailey. You are more than welcome to join us by e-mailing for further details
